Based in Unity, Saskatchewan, nwPURE is a supplier of Neutral Grain Spirits (NGS) and part of the North West Terminal group, grain-handling an NGS wholesale company located in Canada’s grain-farming heartland. We asked CEO Jason Skinner a few questions about nwPURE’s work with small-batch distillers.
What range of NGS products do you offer?
We offer a wide range of NGS from many different grains: wheat, rye and barley are very popular, as these crops are grown in abundance by farmers in the area. However, we will use other grains like corn, specialty grain and make custom blends.
Are there specialty products (such as organic, non-GMO, heritage grains, or Kosher) you can provide as well?
We will look at all customer requests and special certifications like Kosher. Our goal is to please.
Have any of your products been used in award-winning Canadian artisan spirits?
We have been very fortunate to share in the success of some very quality-conscious customers crafting some amazing spirits. We want to continue doing our small part by providing the highest possible quality NGS as a foundation for their unique recipes.
Do customers use your NGS for purposes other than a base spirit for gin or liqueurs: can it be used for flavour extraction, for example?
We do have customers that use further-refined Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) in other products and processes, especially because it is plant-based. We have a line of pharma-grade alcohols that are used in the botanical and cosmetic sectors, to mention a few.
As industry veterans, is there other knowledge and assistance nwPURE can provide to customers?
As I mentioned earlier, we are here to be of service and would love to offer whatever assistance we can. However, most of the time, it is us learning how we can improve our NGS to better meet the needs of our customers.
