  • The Woods Spirit Co. in North Vancouver announced it was under the new ownership of entrepreneur Celia Chiang.

  • Speaking to T-Rex distillery owner Yvonne Inrich, the St. Albert Gazette reported that Alberta distillers feel “locked out B.C. spirits market,” based on red tape around interprovincial trade. The story references a recent dispute about B.C. winemakers shipping directly to Alberta customers, with some not paying relevant taxes to Alberta on those sales.

  • Shiddy’s Distilling (under the same ownership as Sea Change Brewing Co.) in Edmonton plans to expand with a taproom in the Happy Beer Street (99th St. south of Whyte Avenue) district.

  • BC Distilled announced its return for their ninth annual festival on April 13, 2024. In addition to the main tasting, this year’s event will host two whiskies tastings led by renowned whisky expert, author, and founder of the Canadian Whisky Awards, Davin de Kergommeaux, to celebrate the release of his latest book, Canadian Whisky The Essential Portable Expert, 3rd Edition., as well as a Distillers Dinner at Forage Restaurant.
